Fly from your home city to London on British Airways direct overnight flight to connect with the British Airways overnight flight to Cape Town. Day 3.
Arrive Cape Town. You'll be met by
our local representative and transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the
day exploring the city and famous waterfront. Day 4. Cape Winelands. Journey into the beauty and tranquility that is the Cape Winelands. Sip some of South Africa’s finest wines at two well known estates in Paarl and Stellenbosch. A visit to the Huguenot Memorial provides a historical perspective. B Day 5. Cape Peninsula. A full day's touring of the ruggedly beautiful Cape Peninsula. We stop at the fishing village of Hout Bay, where you can opt to take a cruise (own expense) to Seal Island. Continue along the coastline to Boulders Beach for close encounters with another of the Cape's adorable creatures – penguins. We drive through the quaint village of Simon’s Town on our way back to Cape Town. B Day 6.
Cape Town to Oudtshoorn.
Travelling via “ Route 62” (South Africa’s version of Route 66) we arrive at
Oudtshoorn, the “Feather Capital of the World” thanks to its huge ostrich
industry. From there we go underground to the Cango Caves, one of South Africa’s
most spectacular natural wonders. Day 7.
Oudtshoorn to Knysna. Enjoy a tour
of an ostrich farm, and then drive via the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to the
town of George. We get from there to Knysna in the best possible way – on board
the nostalgic steam train, the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe. Note the train does not
operate 01 May – 31 August. At leisure in Knysna. Day 8. Knysna. Cruise on the vast Knysna lagoon and visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Enjoy an amazing view of the imposing sandstone “ Heads” which guard the sea entrance to Knysna’s huge tidal lagoon, and the forests, marshes and pristine beaches surrounding it. BL Day 9. Port Elizabeth to Durban. Travel to Port Elizabeth via the indigenous Tsisikamma Forest for a mid-afternoon flight to Durban. Protea Edward Hotel B Day 10.
Zululand. Travel to the Kingdom of
the Zulu’s via the lush north coast of KwaZulu-Natal. First stop is a vibrant
cultural village. Thrill to the sight of Zulu dancers performing their ancient
high-kicking routines to the beat of the drums; sample traditional Zulu beer and
watch women craft clay pots and intricate beadwork. Day 11.
Swaziland. The day begins with a
motor launch cruise amid the breathtaking wilderness of Lake St Lucia, a World
Heritage Site. Back on dry land we drive into the tiny kingdom of Swaziland,
where we enjoy a visit to the Swazi Candle Factory. Day 12.
Kruger National Park. We enter the
vast Kruger National Park through its southern most gate and head north to our
camp in time for a welcome sundowner in the African bush. Day 13. Kruger National Park. A full day safari. We set off before breakfast in open safari vehicles in search of lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard, and all manner of wondrous wildlife, birds and plants besides. B Day 14. The Lowveld and Panorama Route. Explore living history in the form of Pilgrim’s Rest, the old mining village where gold was first discovered; gasp at the glory that is God’s Window, a boundless view of forested mountains and fertile plains, and view the spectacular Blyde River Canyon, one of the natural wonders of Africa. The Royal Hotel BD Day 15. Pretoria and Johannesburg. Travel to the world famous Premier Diamond Mines, which produced Africa’s biggest diamond, the Cullunan, from which the Great Star of Africa was cut to grace the scepter of the British Crown Jewels.
